Sculpture - Re-purposed Items
Description
This whimsical bird is created using 12 to 15 acrylic paintings re-purposed into a graceful sculpture. Each piece of canvas is cut to the shape of feathers, flower petals, leaves or tree bark and assembled by color choice. Weeks of labor intensive work have gone into developing this work. My inspiration came from having an abundance of instructional paintings from an art class that I teach. I chose not to sell these works because they didn't meet my standards of quality in art that I give to the public. They have been the perfect resource for this unique form of art. It has been an exciting adventure to see what type of forms can emerge by combining those canvases and other found objects into something distinctive and beautiful. If you look deeply onto the sculpture you may see a glimpse of a palm tree or sun set recognizable from one of the paintings used. This art form takes re-purposing to a different level. .
